Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that the process of obtaining your Maryland HQL or Wear and Carry Permit may feel daunting or confusing. You may also have question about how our training works, and what exactly comes with each course or package. This section serves to answer those questions. If you have additional questions, or would like additional details, please contact us via e-mail at: AIGLENOIRWEAPONS@GMAIL.COM

What's the deal with Couple's Training?

Couple's Training is normally priced at at 10% discount, but specials are run that include deeper discounts. The only requirements for what constitutes a couple, is that they each be 21 years old or older, and that they be in a romantic relationship. Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC does not discriminate against same sex couples, nor any other members of the LGBTQTIA+ communities. The goal is to strengthen those who are the least protected. All we ask is that you let us know if you are comfortable as we progress through training, same as every other student we take on.

What fees outside of the training cost am I responsible for with One on One Training?

Great question, and I'm glad you asked. If you are doing a one on one training session, you're not responsible for any costs outside of what the training was listed as. Range fees, ear and eye protection, ammo, targets, and the use of Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC owned firearms are included in the cost. If you wish to rent a firearm from the range, you would be responsible for the cost of that rental plus any associated ammo to use with that rental.

What fees am I responsible for when I attend an HQL or Wear & Carry class?

If you're at the point where you're ready to qualify for your Wear & Carry, you'll be asked to provide your own firearm for the qualification. If you do not have your own firearm, you may rent one from the range and purchase the 50 rounds for your qualification. You may also rent a firearm from Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC for the cost of $50, which includes the firearm, and the 50 rounds needed for your qualification. Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC, offers both 9mm and .22lr caliber semiautomatic pistols for training and qualification. If you are pursuing your HQL, there will be no expectation of established handgun ownership, and one will be provided by Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC to meet the requirement outlined by the State of Maryland that at least 1 round be fired. Ear and eye protection will be the responsibility of the student, but Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC may have some available if requested.

What happens if I show up drunk or high?

Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC has ZERO TOLERANCE for those who show up to a firearms training while under the influence. Firearms are serious business and demand a certain level of respect while handling them. If a student shows up to training under the influence, they will not be allowed to train, and their money will be refunded.

Something came up, and I can't make it to training!

Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC understands that life happens. Please contact us as soon as reasonable to let us know of your situation so we can work on getting you taken care of.

What do I need for my Maryland Wear and Carry other than this class?

Receiving the required 16 hours of training, and qualifying on the range are just two of the things required to obtaining your MD Wear & Carry Permit. You will also need a passport style photo and fingerprints via LIVESCAN, as well as the application itself and the associated application fee. There are several places you can get the fingerprinting done, and most will offer the passport style photo as well. Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC does at times make arrangements for those services to be available at the location of training as a convenience for the students. The fingerprinting and photography fees ARE NOT included in the training fee. Please feel free to check the Maryland State Police Website for the details outlining the process, as it is subject to change.

I have never even touched a gun before, and I am worried that my fear will be too much to overcome. What do I do?

Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC prides itself on taking care of students such as yourself. The range can be a loud, and seemingly chaotic environment, so we take extra care to make sure that every student is comfortable with the ambient noise by providing excellent hearing protection. We also ensure that students are started off on a low caliber firearm that is easy to handle and shoot, and isn't very loud. We've come to learn that easing people into the experience yields a much more enjoyable initial experience for the students, which make return trips to the range something to look forward to, instead of something to dread or avoid altogether.

I'm a veteran, do I still need to take the HQL Course to get my Handgun License?

The Maryland State Police say you are not required to take the training if you are a veteran or meet several other criteria. However, Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC highly advises you attend the 4 hour HQL course as a refresher. Aigle Noir Weapons, LLC will offer this course at a 50% discount for those able to verify their veteran status.
